Sometimes, just when you think you’ve finally outgrown something, a strange twist of fate slaps you hard and proves otherwise. This was what happened to me roughly a week ago, when I flew out of the country to see L’Arc~en~Ciel play live for the first time.
I’ve been a fan for many years now (a decade or so, perhaps!), but I had also come to accept that seeing them perform in the flesh may be no more than a dream. So, when it finally skirted from “possibility” to “actuality,” it unearthed the emotions and fangirl fantasies that I thought I had already locked deep inside me some years ago. It was definitely a unique experience that did not only awaken such feelings, but also took me somewhere I’ve never been before: Singapore.

Awesome Laruku 2012 world tour goodies I got to remember the awesome experience by!
It wasn’t until we started booking tickets that it finally sank: I’m headed to Singapore!
Whether by sheer coincidence or my intuition at work, I finally decided to apply for a passport. I’ve been putting it off year after year, dreading the tedious processes and thinking that I’m not yet ready to travel out of the country. However, as I’ve been eyeing Bangkok as a potential destination for my birthday trip next year, I decided to just get it over with as early as now. I couldn’t have done it at a more fitting time, however; L’Arc~en~Ciel has been country-hopping for their 20th Anniversary World Tour, with Singapore as one of their destinations. It was a bit sudden but boyfriend and his friends wanted to go, and so did I—after all, it’s “reachable” and we didn’t want to wait for the next world tour to see them in the flesh. So, it was decided that we’ll all head to Singapore!
With roughly 15 days left (26 when I first wrote this post in my main blog), here I am, ironing out an itinerary which includes spotting the best (and most affordable) hawker food stalls, dropping by the Lomography Gallery Store, checking out snap-worthy places nearby, and of course, watching the demi-gods of J-Rock do their thing on stage. All these in squeezed in two days! I also have to figure out how to go out and about town via train and bus, among other things.
I can see a lot of firsts in store for me again in this trip, so here’s to hoping we don’t get lost or something!

Mom and Dad’s boombox from the 80s. Still working!

Last month, I went to the Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Festival for the first time. Funny how this is my only decent “hot air balloon” photo from the event because it was very cloudy the whole day. Just my luck.

Lunch for Two: Hungarian Pigs and Viennese Piglets in Blankets!
So, the boyfriend made an awesome video montage of our trip to Ilocandia with some friends for my birthday. What can I say, I love what he did, and I can only hope that my LomoKino video would turn out as awesome!
